Epson Projector Review: EB-W18

This month's SAFRA Technology Review is on Epson Projector, EB-W18. If you have been following the OMY SAFRA Blog, you may have noticed that EB-W18 looks very much similar to the EB-X18 which
I've reviewed earlier.

Not only that they looked very much alike, technically, they have many similar features too, such as:
- great portability at 2.4Kg
- white and colour brightness at 3,000 lumens
- sharp details with 10,000:1 contrast ratio
- Horizontal / Vertical keystone feature that allows adjustment of alignment of the projection with ease
 photo EpsonEB-W18TopView.jpg

- HDMI Connectivity that allows transfer and enjoymeny of high quality images and sounds.
- Wireless connection to Computer, laptop, smart phones and tablets.
- Epson iProjection that wirelessly display and control content from IOS or Android smartphones and devices.
- Allows viewing of JPEG, BMP, PNG, or GIF slideshow via a USB thumb drive, without the use of PC.

 photo EpsonEB-W18TopBackView.jpg

- Front-facing exhaust to prevent one from exposing to the hot exhaust.

 photo EpsonEB-W18sideview.jpg

- Eco friendly with lead-free projector optics lenses, unpainted plastic chasis that is chlorine-free or bromine-free, and low power consumption during standby mode.- - Colour Universal design that allows people with colour blink vision to identify and distinguish function on the projector's remote control and control panal with the color schemes.

The main difference of the EB-W18 vs. EB-X18, is in the resolution display, where the EB-X18 uses the XGA display (1024x768) and the EB-W18 uses the Wide XGA / WXGA display (1280x800).

 photo EpsonEB-W18remotecontrol.jpg

The EB-W18 is of 3x brighter colors with the 3LCD, 3-Chip Technology, and offers a more vibrant and true-to-life colour presentations and entertainment.
If you needed a projector with great resolution yet affordably priced, then EB-W18 is your perfect solution for professional presentations, as well as for personal entertainment.

My Shopping Experience on TAOBAO SEA

Hi Readers! Are you an online shopaholic? Or maybe I should ask, do you shop at TaoBao online often? Well, it has been a long time since my last online shopping which I really can’t remember how many years ago. Today I am glad that TaoBao, the China’s largest online shopping site is now in Southeast Asia known as TaoBao Southeast Asia (SEA) and honest speaking, although I have heard TaoBao before but this my first time doing an online shopping at TaoBaoSEA.

I always like to buy latest fashion, creativity and unique stuffs. TaoBao is an online heaven market place for me to shop for the items I want and need, whereby it has a wide-range category provides more than over thousands of variety in its fashionable trend, digital technology, lifestyle usage, luxury branded stuffs and entertainment leisure.

Likewise, my mind got juiced up when I first look at the TaoBao website! Good to see that everything is well categorize and with the help of English translation in certain page, it makes me easier to browse, buy and purchase item from the website. Not to mention that, I actually used 3 days to learn the process of their new overseas dealing system (International forwarding service) and today, I will be sharing about my online shopping experience at TaoBao.

First of all, you need to register a TaoBao account in order for you to buy anything from the website. So, how to register? Is very simply… Check out the screenshot guide on how to register a TaoBao account here…

Enter a username and password to start! You can choose to receive your verification code through email or mobile at the next page. That’s it! You have now successfully created a TaoBao account! Now move on to next step… which is shopping time!!! Yay! However, don’t panic… I know is more than a million items on TaoBao, all you need is to take out SOME time to browse through the site and buy what you want!

Likewise, a useful tool you guys may use is the SEARCH function tool indicates at the top of TaoBao website. I like to use the ‘SEARCH’ function as it makes me more convenience in finding the item I want.

When it comes to shopping, I usually like to shop for fashionable and trendy shirts and shoes as well as given with great discount promotion. Lol… Sound kind of aunties but is always good to buy something worth wearing. Don’t you agree? Haha…

After selecting the item you want and added them into the shopping cart, next you have to do is to make a payment. Yes!! One thing has attracted me was the extra security features added onto TaoBao website. Every step you chosen is recorded in the system, including the money payment and more. It is definitely a safe way to purchase your TaoBao goods via credit card or any other online payment.

Here comes the important part! You people must be wondering how the TaoBao items delivery all way from China to your doorstep… Here it is! Before confirming the purchase item, you need to select a delivery International forwarding service. Question is… How to use International forwarding service after the seller ships your purchases to the International forwarding service warehouse?

On the billing section, you will see this ‘Use International Forwarding Service’, select the option and choose an overseas delivery service. There are total of 4 different type delivery services and for me, I had chosen the 4PX service. It took about 4-6 working days to deliver the goods to your doorstep. Awesome! ^^

In summary:
You can set up the option to receive SMS notifications when your orders have arrived at the warehouse in China. When all your orders are ready for consolidation and shipping to Singapore, navigate to 已买到的宝贝 > 国际转运 (My items > International forwarding) to choose the items that you want to 合并 (combine) into a single consolidated package. You are currently allowed to combine up to twenty orders into a single package.

Click on 合并快递 (blue button) to indicate that
you want this order included in the consolidated package.

The order is now included in the consolidation list.

Keep the default option for 物流运费 (delivery fee) on the item page. It is usually set to 全国 (nationwide). DO NOT select delivery to 海外 (overseas), since you have already appointed a forwarding agent as your local contact point to receive the goods in China. Selecting the overseas option means you want the sellers in China to ship directly to you in Singapore, and this will incur high shipping costs. Moreover, as previously mentioned, most Taobao sellers do not ship directly to overseas addresses.

Last but not least, I would like to say that I have a fruitful moment shopping online at TaoBaoSEA!!! Just for short 3 days, I brought almost 15 items which cost me less than $200 SGD, really a great reasonable deal on TaoBaoSEA. *Check out the stuffs I brought here* in love with them ya!! Excellent delivery service and all my goods is in perfect condition. *Thumb up*

EDIT: I'm editing this post because I just found out about a great new online shopping site called ShopBack Singapore that can help you save lots of money the next time you shop. They give you cashback for 500 over stores like Lazada, Groupon, Zalora and yes Taobao!

For Taobao, they will give you up to 10% cashback on your Taobao order (but for their 2016 New Year Promotion, there's an Upsized Cashback going on with up to 16%!). Thats means I could of saved up to $20 SGD on the $200 SGD that I spent on Taobao. Wish I found out about this site sooner!

All you have to do is to register at ShopBack (Sign up at https://www.shopback.sg/hpility to get a $5 bonus!) and go to the ShopBack Taobao page. Just search for the item in the search bar and if available on ai.taobao.com, you can just check out as per normal! The cashback will be credited into your ShopBack account and then you can cashout into your bank account or PayPal for real cash. You can check out ShopBack's Taobao page for all step-by-step instructions on how to shop from Taobao through ShopBack.

But lucky I found out this service right before Chinese New Year so I can make use of the great Chinese New Year promotions and buy my new clothes from Taobao!

How I Live Now Movie Review

How I Live Now Movie Review:
How I Live Now - a drama movie based on novel directed by Kevin Macdonald and cast by Tom Holland, Anna Chancellor, George McKay, Corey Johnson and lead actress Saoirse Ronan. This romance film has its interesting concept story of how this girl found her true love, a new place for freedom and how she survives through the war situation. Every part of life changes her and she chooses to believe in what she believed. Moral of story “Love will lead you home” and it will be.

‘How I Live Now’ Movie has a good story flow, screen lightning and cinematography. I like the warm effect in certain scene. Hence, I rate this movie 3/5 star. ‘How I Live Now’ Movie will be releasing in Singapore at Golden Village Theater starting from 23 January 2013.

How i Live Now Movie Synopsis:
Set in the near-future UK, Ronan plays Daisy, an American teenager sent to stay with relatives in the English countryside. Initially withdrawn and alienated, she begins to warm up to her charming surroundings, and strikes up a romance with the handsome Edmund (George MacKay). But on the fringes of their idyllic summer days are tense news reports of an escalating conflict in Europe. As the UK falls into a violent, chaotic military state, Daisy finds herself hiding and fighting to survive.

Recently this girl's Stephanie Koh has been instantly famous because of her honest quotes sentence “I am not proud to be Singaporean". Hence, numerous question had shoot on her and Today, she had given an explanation through the video presentation on why she not proud to be Singaporean. I shall use my favourite quote to end the moral of story, “If I have a choice, Why not?”

Check out the video at this LINK HERE:

So, are you proud to be Singaporean? For me, my answer is still a Yes. Reason because I have home in Singapore.

Chinese New Year 2014: The History of Bak Kwa

Hello Readers! Chinese New Year Festival is happening in about 2 to 3 weeks’ time and is time to shop for your CNY goodies! Few days back, I took out my free time to visit and do some street photography at the Singapore Chinatown.

Along the Street of Chinatown was decorated with beautiful Chinese New Year display, Street vendors was mass selling CNY goodies item and the whole street was filled with New Year atmosphere. I walked in the crowds and capture the busy moment. Hence, I chance upon few Bak Kwa stall and start ponder few question came into my mind…

Bak Kwa (肉干), one of the common food we will eat during Chinese New Year Festival, it is one of my favourite CNY goodies too. People who eaten Bak Kwa before will love the taste but have you guys ever wonder what is the behind culture and history of Bak Kwa? I went back home and did a little research about the history of “Bak Kwa” and I find it quite interesting. Therefore, today post going to share with you guys what i read about the legend history of Bak Kwa adapted from 2 useful website…

“Bak kwa is a dried meat product similar to jerky that is a traditional food to Singaporean and Malaysian Chinese populations. It is also known as rou gan, 肉干, in Mandarin and is a popular snack food which is frequently consumed during the Chinese New Year period. These meat pieces are usually made from pork and sold in thin square slices; however beef, mutton, chicken and even vegetarian alternatives have since been produced (Guay, 2010; Chinatownology, 2012). The meat is typically marinated with many spices, sugar, salt and honey, and then dried on racks with temperatures between 50°C to 60°C (Leistner, 1999; Bakkwaking Ltd, 2012; Chinatownology, 2012).” – Read More (http://chinesebakkwa.wikispaces.com/)

"Bak kwa is thought to have derived from a meat preservation and preparation technique used in ancient China. It is also considered a Hokkien delicacy, as it originated from the Fujian province in China, where poverty meant that the consumption of meat was a luxury usually reserved for Chinese New Year. Leftover meat would be preserved by slicing the meat into thin sheets and marinating them with sugar and spices, before air-drying the slices and cooking them over a hot plate. When immigrants brought this delicacy over to Singapore and Malaysia, it took on local characteristics. For example, while the meat is still air-dried, it is instead grilled over charcoal, which imparts a smokier flavour. The local version is also sweeter than its original counterpart." The Wolf of Wall Street Movie Review

The Wolf of Wall Street Movie Review
It is an American film directed by Martin Scorsese, based on true story of Jordan Belfort. This movie I could say is interesting, it relates to a stockbroker who runs a firm and so on it engages in security fraud and corruption on Wall Street. By watching this movie it will make you feel like living in billionaire but somehow it also teaches you how to earn big sum of money by having a “good communication” another word “cheating” your client.

The Wolf of Wall Street Movie includes sex and drug scene showcase the way of de-stress, the smart way of making money and conceptualize of prosperous lifestyle. “He been through broke situation and now he is rich” I like the way how this movie inspiriting audience! Story flow and Climax was good is just that some part of the scene is little draggy but overall it still worth watching in the cinema theater. I rate this movie 3.5/5 star. The Wolf of Wall Street movie is rated 21 and will be available in Singapore at Golden Village Cinema Theater starting from 9th January 2014.
