Food Review: Ujong Restaurant at Raffles Hotel

Singapore popular local delight dishes by Executive Chef Shen Tan are now revealing at Ujong Restaurant located at Raffles Hotel Arcade. The concept at Ujong restaurant has its unique interior which gave you a little back to the olden days of Nyonya-Peranakan taste.

The olden days. the golden species.

Some of the signatures dishes such as Nasi Lemak and Ba Chor Mee Pasta is a must try at Ujong Restaurant. Chef’s Shen came out with a new interesting creation, such as Hae Bee Hiam Mentaiko Capellini; Claypot Rice with Five-Spiced Pork; Ba Kwa Pork Ribs; and Har Zi Meen.

A mainstay and must-try on the lunch / dinner menu is definitely Chef Shen's crowd-pleasing Nasi Lemak. This fragrant, fluffy and lemak coconut rice dish can be complemented with a generous portion of side dish of your choice, including the popular Beef Rendang, Banana leaf wrapped grilled fish with otak rempah, or two Chicken Wings. Every Nasi Lemak is accompanied with homemade achar, ikan bilis and a fried egg.

Alongside the delicious savoury offerings, UJONG's dessert menu features five mouth-watering treats that will provide a sweet end to your meal. One signature dessert is Chef Shen's take on the sticky date pudding made with Asian black glutinous rice (pulot hitam). Drizzled in a gula melaka butterscotch and served with homemade coconut ice cream, the Puloh Hitam Sticky Pudding is a sure-fire way to cheer any taste buds.

The Shendol Delights is another must-try dessert. With the concept of a deconstructed chendol, this winning creation of coconut panna cotta with gula melaka syrup is topped with homemade red bean ice-cream to lend a modern spin to a perennial dessert favourite.

Singapore International Racing Festival 2014

Woohoo! A yearly event is back at Singapore Turf Club! Couple of week back, one of the weekend, me together with my friends was invited to attend the Singapore Airlines International Cup & Krisflyer International Sprint 2014.

This was my fourth time attending the Singapore International Cup racing event this year and I am still pretty excited with the horse betting and cheering for your favourite horses. It was a rainy day, my group of friend and I went to the event place early and enjoyed an afternoon tea session at the Marquee Singapore Racecourse.

This year Singapore Airlines International Cup & Krisflyer International Sprint 2014 horse racing was kind of challenging because due to bad rainy weather. However, I believed this won’t affect any of the audiences who bet for their favourite horse. Yes! I do bet too…! :D

Photo with my cheerful friends!

Thinking Hard... Choosing the potential horse to mark down my bet! ;)

Evening time... Time to have some serious bet... heheh ;)

The actual race event started off in the evening with a group of glamour performers, highlight of the horse racer, unveiled this year turf belles girls as well as the enthusiastic audiences. I am glad to get invited again to see the live view of the opening performances.

Live Performances to heat up the audiences before the actual race start...

Congratulation to the winner this year from Hong Kong!

Once again, Thank You Singapore Turf Club for the invitation! I had a wonderful moment this year! ^^  A group photo before call it a day! Fun ya! xD

A Day in Transit at Singapore Changi Airport

How many of you do you actually explore around the departure / transit halls when travelling via Changi Airport?  Or, are you like me, always rushing to the boarding gate for my flight without much time roaming about?

Thanks to Singapore Changi Airport team, I had the chance and luxury to explore among the 3 departure / transit halls to experience #ADayInTransit at Singapore Changi Airport.  It was a real eye opener for me as only then I realised the airport has gone through much makeover and make it an enjoyable experience for departure / transit.  This is no wonder Changi Airport has voted as the Best Airport in the World by Business Traveller (UK) magazine for 26 consecutive years!

5 newly themed gardens are located in the various terminals, of which I love the Orchid Garden & Butterfly Garden Most.  I bet I'll love Sunflower Garden too, but I had missed to check out this time round.

T1 - Cactus Garden

T2 - Enchanted Garden, Orchid Garden & Sunflower Garden

T3 - Butterfly Garden

Feeling Hungry during mid of the night while waiting for your night fly?  No worries, there are 24 hours food court where you can get to taste the nostalgic local delights.

While waiting to board your flight, you can check your emails or surf the net with the 550 free internet kiosks across the 3 terminals, or if you prefer to use your own device, you can simply use the free airport-wide Wi-Fi.  And there's need not to fear about your mobile devices battery running low because of all the surfing as there are more than 800 charging points available.

Alternatively, you can opt to Xperience zone to catch the latest sports events, or snap your own self-portrait and send as an e-Postcard at the e-Postcard booth.

Otherwise, you can head over to the movie theatre to catch a movie.  The movie theatres are available in both T2 and T3. There are also arts installation around where you can have a moment of art appreciation.

If you are worried about your active kids getting bored during the transit?  Why not bring them over to the Social Tree at T1, where they can get a snapshot of themselves and shared to the social tree. There's also "Three Little Pigs" featured nearby the social tree where kids enjoyed running about, posing for shots!

Feeling tired? There are free massaging facilities available too where you can give your tired feet a good massaging.

Needed more information of the exact spots of the above facilities?  You can easily pick up the Aiport Guide and Shop & Dine Guide which are updated every quarterly, for reference.

If you are still feeling lost, feel free to approach any of the Changi Experience Agent stationed at the information counter or those who are patrolling around and are readily to assist you.

A casual day in Seoul! I met up with my Singapore friend’s Yan and Korea firend’s Euni at Ados Dining and Café opened by Euni’s sister located at Itaewon 1-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul Korea. Ados Café has a very unique fusion concept mixed with modern and oldies kind of interior. It’s very casual and attractive and I believe you guys will enjoy a delightful brunch meal at Ados Café.

Ados Dining & Cafe Menu

My generous Korean friends treated us their traditional homemade Korea dessert – Patbingsu. This dessert is uncommonly to be seen in Singapore, likewise this also my first time trying out the Patbingsu. Love its smooth ice cream and it was a recommended dessert to eat in summer.

Delicious! Yummy!!
